解説

　先住民の血が流れていないオーストラリア人の私にとって、その大地と土着の生き物は、私と母国オーストラリアとの間にも深い絆があることを教えてくれるものです。原始の姿を残しながら、恐竜の時代から今日まで生き延びる術を見事に身に付けてきたワニは、私の制作活動におけるインスピレーションの重要な源です。その豊かな質感、独特の形態は、オーストラリアの自然、風土に根ざした愛すべき特性だと考えます。 このワニの作品を通して、オーストラリアを象徴するこの生き物に対する愛着を、井波の皆様が感じ取っていただけたらとても幸せです。
　As an Australian with no indigenous links, I look to the land and its creatures to provide me with a sense of connectedness with my country. The primal nature of the crocodile and its successful survival since the Age of the Dinosaurs, is a major source of inspiration for me. I wanted to make this crocodile sculpture for the people of Inami to share, the rich textures and distinctive forms that I consider to be endearing Australian qualities.
